The bungee jump facilities have been suspended from opening to tourists in Fangshan District, southwest of Beijing after a faulty operation that nearly killed a young girl.
The accident happened on Friday at a tourist attraction in Fangshan when the bungee cord snapped on the way down. The person, 17, plunged right into the water, but luckily survived and was sent to the hospital.
Preliminary examinations show there were no serious injuries while the girl was transferred to a bigger hospital for further medical checks.
A video recording of the terrifying moments has gone viral in the online community over the weekend.
In a statement released on Saturday, the company in charge of the facility said that the accident was due to ineffective communication between their staff and the wrong judgment call was made for when to put down the bungee cord.
The Juma Park Tourism Development Company said they have suspended "related people" from their duties and an overhaul into potential safety hazard has been underway, according to the Beijing News.

Bungee jumping is an extreme sport and recreational activity. A jumper leaps from a high, fixed surface while an elastic cord is attached to their ankles.
The first modern bungee jumps were made by Oxford students who jumped from 76 meters Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol in 1979.
