Will Jiuzhaigou disappear after the Sichuan earthquake? The question, asked after a magnitude-7.0 earthquake jolted Jiuzhaigou County on August 8, may not be important now, as a new, breathtaking waterfall appeared at Zhangjiajie National Park, said ecologists who revisited the spot on Tuesday. /NetEase
Dozens of Chinese ecologists and environmentalists revisited the national park recently, carrying out field investigation, evaluating damage levels and making plans for recovery projects. /NetEase
“Some scenery was destroyed, but new scenery was generated too,” said Wang Ding, a researcher from Chinese Academy of Science. “Rebuilding the park should follow the rule of nature. Intervening should be kept as low as possible.” /NetEase
As soon as dangerous spots are cleared out, parts of the national park will be opened to the public. /NetEase
