Looking at China's services sector now. The total import-export volume of services into and out of China has reached nearly 3 trillion yuan. That's according to Commerce Ministry statistics released Wednesday. The numbers reflect a stable and speedy rate of growth for the first half of 2018. The major boost can be attributed to the record-high volume of Chinese imports and exports. Another factor was an ongoing optimization of the sector that paved the way for new service imports.
LI YUAN SENIOR OFFICIAL WITH THE MINISTRY OF COMMERCE "At present, the service deficit is still large, the import of services is twice of the export volume, the main reason for the deficit is that the travel deficit is expanding, the current travel expenditure is seven to eight times of the travel income, and the growth rate of travel expenditure is higher than the growth rate of travel income. Meanwhile, with the development of economy, China has more demands for advanced technology, and the expenditure on licensing fees for intellectual property rights has increased by more than 20 percent, and our transport deficit is also expanding."
