WAF World Cup - Shanghai: Top archers take aim at title in China

We take aim at this year's Archery World Cup circuit, a traditional stop is Shanghai. More than 500 athletes, coaches, and officials from 46 countries descending on the city, which is playing host to the event for the 10th consecutive year. Zhang Yue has more details.
Participants will compete in 10 disciplines, including men's and women's recurve and compound, as well as individual, team, and mixed team competitions. Qualifying and knockout rounds are being held at Yuanshen Sports Center in Pudong from today to Friday, and are open to the public for free. The finals will be held in the Lujiazui Greenland Area this weekend, with tickets priced from 50 yuan. Tom Dielen, Secretary-General of the World Archery Federation, said new rules will be applied this year starting in Shanghai. The winner of each stage -- Shanghai, Turkey, Utah, and Berlin -- will qualify for the World Cup final automatically.

The Chinese Archery Association said the Shanghai competition will serve as a good warm-up ahead of the Asian Games, since China has not been doing very well in international competitions in the past few years.
