"First of all, it is very important to see how other cities organized such a summit. It is also important to understand the size of a G20 summit, because when you read the numbers; 6000 delegates, 20,000 policemen, and nearly 5,000 journalists, these are just numbers, but when you see them in real, what does it mean to us?"  Schmidt asked.
"Thirty-Six delegations moving around, you understand the scope of the challenge.”

Speaking of achievements of Hangzhou summit last year and the ongoing summit, Schmidt noted Globalization and inclusive growth is the issue both President Xi Jinping and Chancellor Angela Merkel share.
The continuity of achievements is true for African involvement and the work to fight climate change, he said.

Free trade and climate change are most pressing issues for the leaders to discuss. Insofar as these topics, Mr. Schmidt added the things are very complicated for G20 these days because many consensus reached at Hangzhou are now contested, so the fact that climate change exist is questioned, and the need to fight climate change is as well, and the same true benefit for the free trade, non-protectionism.
"The summit would find common ground with a few new leaders' participation. The new leaders of South Korea, France, United States and the UK, they are crucial for the world peace and world economy. It is a good thing itself that they are meeting and they are getting to know each other."  Schmidt concluded.
