Now turning to the Spring Festival travel rush. China's nationwide railway system projects an estimated 9.9 million passengers filled cars on Saturday.
To better serve passengers, the Beijing South Railway Station added overnight high-speed trains to its line-up; usage of these trains reached as high as 97.5 percent of capacity. The highway system also saw a spike in usage on Saturday, with increasing numbers of vehicles commuting for trips in the Yangtze River and Pearl River Deltas. Ten sections along nine highways in north China were closed due to cold weather, to ensure traffic safety.  Meanwhile the number of migrant workers motorcycling home for the Spring Festival reached its peak in Wuzhou City of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. According to traffic police, the peak will gradually ease in one or two days before the Lunar New Year's Eve.
