With the help of the BRICS summit, the world's biggest polyester ribbon and bow manufacturer, Yama Ribbons & Bows, has plans to weave an even bigger dream: to bring more Chinese businesses to India.
Yama Ribbon & Bows is the only company in eastern China’s Fujian Province that has established a manufacturing site in India, with plans to establish another facility with an investment of 30 million US dollars.
"We plan to set up a Fujian Industrial Park in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. We would like to form a group of companies from Fujian to invest in India and tap the emerging market together," said Yao Ming, president of Yama.

"Our industry is basically labor intensive. We think a lot of such industries will outsource some of their operations and relocate them in India. I personally believe that India will be the largest consumer of ribbons and bows in the next 5 to 10 years," said Yao.
The Xiamen-headquartered company's first manufacturing base in India's coastal state of Andhra Pradesh has been in operations for three years.
Of the nearly 600 staff working at Yama's Indian base, only four are from China.

Setting up a company in a different country comes with its own set of challenges. The management and local staff sometimes encounter misunderstandings and arguments. Over the past three years, workers have even gone on strike twice.
Lin Jun, general manager of Ribest Ribbons & Bows (India), Yama’s Indian subsidiary, told CGTN, "Our principle is that if it's related to production, we adhere to Chinese standards and procedures. For issues that are not related to manufacturing, such as admin and daily management, we try to fit in with the local environment and respect the local culture and customs. For example, local staff can put on their traditional costumes rather than factory uniforms to work during festive periods. And this decision was widely welcomed among our staff."

"We are from different areas, but we belong to a single family. We do have different ideas, but we always share our ideas in our weekly meetings along with the top management. They just want to give a chance to all the team members in decision-making," said Kranthi Kumar Kare, a staff member of Ribest Ribbons & Bows (India).
Many of the employees are cherishing the opportunity of working in the Chinese company. For many, it's their first job ever.
"I learned so many things from my colleagues. To this job, I got systematic knowledge and how to behave with superiors. I got some knowledge in my professional career," a local staff Koteswari Namali told CGTN.
