Now we head to China's Central Academy of Fine Arts, where the 2018 Beijing Media Art Biennale is underway. As an international academic platform, this year's event is centered on the theme of "Post Life", aiming to promote the intersection of art and technology.
How could art and technology shape the future? This is the question the curators of this year's Beijing Media Art Biennale are trying to answer.
Song Xiewei, another biennale curator says "But it is not easy to actually tell what the future would be like because we live in an 'uncertain' world."
SONG XIEWEI, CURATOR BEIJING MEDIA ART BIENNALE 2018 Nowadays we are facing many globalization issues like energy problems and environmental concerns. The developing art and technology have in some way helped us in solving the issues. But we are still not sure whether they are the proper ways, as many people are also concerned about the negative effects that they may bring."
The 2018 Beijing Media Art Biennale comprises six parts including a main exhibition and a Lab Space.
The main exhibition "Post Life" focuses on the expansion of the ancient concept of life itself. The concept is the rapid development of biological genes, artificial intelligence, robots, and the subsequent increase of attention paid to anthropological theories.
SONG XIEWEI, CURATOR BEIJING MEDIA ART BIENNALE 2018 "The original intention of the exhibition is to seek the answers to how art would develop in the future, as well as how art and the developing technology would help shape the world we live in. We hope to find some directions of future development of art and technology."
The cross-disciplinary "Art and Technology" Lab Space is a new model of futuristic innovation.
It not only changes the research and development model of the scientific and technological circles, but also provides new possibilities for the studio-centered artist practice.
The event will also include Hyperlinks Exhibition, live performances, thematic forums, workshops as well as interdisciplinary experiments in the art and technology fields.
