The fight against corruption has gained momentum since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in November 2012, President Xi Jinping said at a CPC workshop ahead of the 19th National Congress.
Reviewing efforts to strengthen Party self-governance, he said the CPC had been committed to addressing complaints from the public about issues which pose a threat to the Party's ruling foundation.

Xi said that the anti-corruption crackdown has purified the political environment but that despite a number of achievements, the campaign still has a long way to go.
"The future and fate of a political party and a government depends on whether it wins the people's support or not," he said. "Although the people speak highly of our achievements in the course of fully strengthening Party self-governance, we must not be complacent or over optimistic."
The CPC must always work closely with the people and address their concerns, he added.

Key meeting at crucial time
The 19th National Congress of the CPC, slated to take place later this year, is a key meeting at a crucial time for China's development, Xi stressed.
The meeting comes as China's endeavors to establish a moderately prosperous society enter a decisive stage, said Xi.

He also reviewed other achievements made in the past five "extraordinary" years, in areas such as reform, the rule of law, poverty reduction, environmental protection, national defense and diplomacy.
All seven members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee attended the workshop, including Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, who presided over the meeting.
