Should the cheese go above or below the patty in the burger emoji?

Where should the cheese slice go on the cheeseburger? Above the patty or below? It sounds a bit silly but it stirred a debate on social media last Saturday.

Author Thomas Baekdal, founder of Baekdal Media, tweeted a screenshot of the different cheese placement of Apple's and Google's respective cheeseburger emojis.

"We need to have a discussion about how Google's burger emoji is placing the cheese underneath the burger, while Apple puts it on top.”

Needless to say, cheeseburger fans made their voices heard.

The discussion gathered not only the attention of many cheese lovers but also Google CEO Sundar Pichai.

After Baekdal's question, Pichai tweeted and promised to sort out the issue.

"Will drop everything else we are doing and address on Monday :) if folks can agree on the correct way to do this!"

Some users pointed out that Google is the only tech giant who places cheese slice below the patty in the burger emoji. Facebook, Samsung, Apple and many other companies all place the cheese on the top.
