Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull signed a series of bilateral agreements aimed at increasing trade ties between the two countries during their meetings on Friday in Canberra.
In a speech, Li said that making investment easier will deepen and solidify the relationship between China and Australia, and also bring broader prospects to ties between the two countries.
In his speech, Turnbull said Australia-China relations have “never been more important and dynamic,” and praised the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, saying it “captures a shared commitment to greater prosperity and security”.
The bilateral agreements also included a memorandum of understanding that covers a multi‍-billion dollar project involving mine, rail, and port construction.
The two leaders also discussed a range of other topics, including the uncertainty surrounding US President Donald Trump, security concerns and regional trade deals.
