Belt and Road Forum: Thematic-forum emphasizes important role of Think-Tank Exchanges

There were a dozen official sub-forums on the Belt & Road Initiative in Beijing on Thursday, and one of them looked at the role the media and various think-tanks play in promoting the massive international project. Our reporter Su Yuting has more.
The delegates have reached a consensus that President Xi Jinxing's BRI is a great initiative. Chinese and foreign delegates participated enthusiastically. Over 300 delegates from more than 60 countries and regions attended the forum, including 143 foreign delegates. Among them are not only leading officials from the CPC Central Committee but also a number of former Chinese and foreign dignitaries. There are leaders from well-known think tanks and media organizations, as well as senior executives of major enterprises that have participated in the BRI projects. At the opening ceremony, Mr. Huang Kunming, head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, delivered a keynote speech. Mr. Huang fully acknowledged the important contributions think tank and media had played in researching and reporting on BRI and the joint pursuit of the BRI since the First Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. Open dialogue and in-depth exchange were held around the theme of sharing human wisdom and participating in promoting global development. And Many said the meeting is very fruitful. After the opening ceremony, delegates had discussions at two parallel sessions on think tanks and media respectively, around the topics of communicating and aligning the BRI plans, jointly building the system of international rules, promoting a world economy that is inclusive and shares benefits, and jointly building a community with a shared future for mankind. The Belt and Road News Network First Council Meeting was successfully held on April 23rd. The convening of the first BRNN council meeting indicates that substantial progress has been made in the construction of the Belt and Road News Network. And the Belt and Road Studies Network or BRSN has founded on April 24th. President Xi Jinping has sent a congratulatory letter to the meeting and the BRSN inauguration. With the platforms of academic exchanges, study cooperation and information sharing, BRI participants will turn ideas into action, wisdom into ability, and constantly create and innovate in practice to push the Belt and Road international cooperation for solid progress.
