China-Kazakhstan Ties: Xi Jinping meets with Kazakh President Nazarbayev in Beijing

President Xi Jinping has held talks with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev in Beijing. They agreed to continue the two countries' traditional friendship, and work toward rejuvenation of their nations. Our reporter Su Yuting has more.
President Xi Jinping has held a welcoming ceremony for the Kazakh President Nazarbayev at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. This is a brand new type of welcoming ceremony, with new features like an increased number of honor guards, additional female soldiers, new uniforms and more instruments for the military band. These changes represent respect and friendship between the countries.
Both China and Kazakhstan share a dream that reflects development for the people, allowing more citizens to reach a brighter future. That's what President Xi Jinping emphasized during these talks with his Kazakh counterpart. President Xi said China wants to work more closely with Kazakhstan in fighting terrorism and separatism. He noted that it was at Kazakhstan's Nazarbayev University that he first proposed the Silk Road Economic Belt in 2013. He suggested more cooperation in building production capacity, investment, trade, energy, finance, and agriculture. And he said China is ready to enhance mutual trust among SCO nations to ensure security and development in the region.
Nazarbayev said his country is willing to integrate its "Bright Path" new economic plan with China's Belt & Road Initiative, adding that China's development has brought opportunities for Kazakhstan. After their talks, the two leaders signed a joint communique and witnessed the signing of agreements.
