The DPRK is marking the 76th anniversary of the birth of its late leader Kim Jong Il.
Current leader Kim Jong Un visited the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, bowing to the statues of the country's founder Kim Il Sung and his son Kim Jong Il. Many other people also paid their respects at the statues. February 16th became a national holiday in 1982 and is called "The Day of the Shining Star".
