In Afghanistan, at least 19 people have been killed after a suicide bomber targeted a convoy of Sikhs and Hindus. They were on their way to meet the president in the eastern city of Jala-labad. Avtar Singh Khalsa, a long-time leader of the Sikh community, was killed in the attack on Sunday. He had planned to run in the parliamentary elections set for October. At least 17 of the 19 dead are from the same minority community. The Islamic State has claimed the attack in a statement via its online Amaq news agency, but provided no evidence for the claim. Survivors describe their ordeal.
MANJEET SINGH SURVIVOR "Suddenly an explosion happened. Seniors were sitting in the car and the explosion happened. Soldiers were there. I called for help, but no one came. I was there alone. Nobody came to help."
