US-ROK Army Drills: Annual military exercises scaled-down this time amid diplomatic thaw
[]
We start with news on the Korean Peninsula. The US and South Korea have launched their annual joint military exercises after a month's delay for the Winter Olympics -- this time, significantly downscaled.
The Foal Eagle field training exercise will be held throughout April, about half the time it usually lasts. And no major US strategic assets are expected to show up. A two-week computer-simulated Key Resolve drill will also happen in late April, coinciding with the April 27th meeting with South Korean president Moon Jae-in and DPRK leader Kim Jong Un.
