Veteran diplomat Zhang Yesui makes debut at China's top legislature press conference

Deputies to the first session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) on Sunday elected the presidium and the secretary-general for the legislative session at a preparatory meeting. 
A 190-member presidium for the session was elected at the meeting and Wang Chen was elected secretary-general.
The meeting also adopted the agenda of the NPC session, which is scheduled to start on Monday.
The presidium later held its first meeting and elected its executive chairpersons, including Li Zhanshu. 
Zhang Yesui was designated as the spokesperson for the session.  
Zhang made debut at the press conference of the first session of the 13th NPC on Sunday and answered questions from journalists worldwide.

Profile of Zhang Yesui 

Zhang Yesui, 64, is a veteran diplomat who has worked in Britain and the United States.
Before taking the position of the NPC spokesman, Zhang was serving as vice foreign minister and was responsible for the ministry's executive work, as well as affairs related to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
