The Chinese curling and bobsleigh teams landed in S. Korea earlier today for the upcoming PyeongChang Olympics.
The curling games will have 10 teams competing in the men's and women's respectively, with seven teams earning qualification points from the 2016 and 2017 world championships, two through the qualification event in Pilsen. As the host nation S. Korea's team qualifies automatically.
For the first time, mixed doubles curling will be contested in the Winter Games, with eight teams to compete in a round-robin preliminary round, with the top four finishers qualifying for the medal round.
The Chinese women's curling team claimed a bronze medal in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
The Chinese bobsleigh and skeleton team has seven bobsleighers and one skeleton athlete on board.
Notably, the Chinese bobsleigh and skeleton team, which was not established until 2016, has made impressive strides since its inception, winning four qualification competitions in two-man bobsleigh, four-man bobsleigh and skeleton.
Bobsleigh is an extreme sliding sport which has been part of the Winter Olympic Games since 1932 for men and 2002 for women.
There are three Olympic events: Two for men – the two- and four-man bobsleigh – and one for women with two competitors. Classification is established in four heats. The team with the best overall time wins.
The schedule of bobsleigh and skeleton is between February 9 and 25 while the curling competition starts on February 8.
