China’s resolution to pursue the rural vitalization strategy outlined at the 19th CPC National Congress has greatly boosted confidence among the six hundred million people living in the countryside. CGTN re-visits one grassroots delegate after she returned to her post from the Great Hall of the People.

Party secretary Wu Shufang from Guanlipu village has some exciting news to share with the locals, and she is doing it in down-to-earth language to make sure these farmers get the message.

"The political report of the Party Congress stressed that we must prioritize the development of agriculture and rural areas, and consolidate and improve the basic rural operations system. This is a great boost to rural development,” Wu said to the local residents.

The CPC national congress offered an opportunity for grassroots delegates like Wu to be a part of the country's decision-making process. Their participation and enduring commitment are the prerequisites to realizing those big plans described at the event.

Wu also shared her impressions on some other aspects of the congress. She told CGTN that there were no bottled water, no flowers, no lavish meals at the congress, everything was arranged simply. And most of the conference appliances are reusable.

And for the CPC delegates, the journey home is the beginning of a new mission. They will help develop China into a great modern socialist country, focusing on addressing unbalanced and inadequate development in society and matching people's ever-growing needs for a better life.

At the end of the interview, Wu thinks the responsibility of spreading those concepts for rural development to the masses is now on the delegates like herself.
