Operations in Afghanistan leave 77 insurgents dead in 24 hours

A total of 77 militants were killed, and 27 others wounded in a series of security operations carried out by Afghan troops in the past 24 hours.
Seventeen ISIL fighters were among the dead, according to a statement published by Afghanistan’s defense ministry on Saturday.
The raids also led to the arrest of seven insurgents and the discovery of weapon caches in different provinces around the country.
Meanwhile, Taliban militants attacked an Afghan army checkpoint in Ab Kamary district, western Badghis province, early on Saturday and captured eight soldiers, authorities have said.
