This year's National Games of China are more about participation than results, with the goal being that more people will become active and inspired by the event.
In Tianjin's Xigu Park, a crew of elderly gentleman spend their post-working days staying fit; body bending, spinning and showing the flexibility of people who could be much younger.
"I am 72 years old this year. We have practiced gymnastics for many years. Our entire group lives in the area, and all of us are over 60, some of them have been doing this for 20 years, some have only started coming in the past couple of years," said Chen Qi who lives around the park.

Over the past seven years, the park has been undergoing repairs. Now, in 2017, it's finally complete and it coincides with the city hosting the 13th National Games of China.
Having a major sporting event for the country would give any city boost and these locals are no different.
"The National Games in Tianjin is an inspiration to us. We are so proud and we want to show that Tianjin has honor," said Chen.
Covering over 9000 square meters, the park welcomes more than 3000 people each day looking to fulfill their daily needs of being active. This can range from table tennis, to Tai Chi or square dancing.
The athletes over in the stadium and at other venues in the city might have youth on their side, but when it comes to representing the games and the spirit, these guys have it all covered.
