RYB Education issued an apology letter Wednesday, after local police released a statement saying no evidence of any child sexual abuse was found in RYB Education New World Kindergarten, which was at the center of child abuse allegations.
The police statement said a 22-year-old teacher, surnamed Liu, had pricked children with needles to make them sleep at noon. She is now under criminal detention. RYB Education apologized for the misbehavior of its employee and vows to find out if there were any other harm done to the children.
RYB Education said it has a zero tolerance policy toward any kind of child abuse. It promised to continue cooperating with the authorities and protecting the rights of the children and the employees.
RYB Education also promised to upgrade the surveillance system in the kindergarten. According to police, the system was damaged by an inventory keeper who thought it was too noisy.
The education corporation plans to engage more parents to supervise the kindergarten teaching process.
According to CGTN's reporter Xu Mengqi, Beijing authorities will assign a supervisor to each kindergarten in the city, helping facilitate communication between parents and school officials.
The authorities also said fabrication and spreading rumors online will be punished accordingly.
