The US, UK and France have carried out a wave of strikes in Syria in response to an alleged chemical weapons attack in the Syrian town of Douma last weekend. According to the Pentagon, three targets were hit a scientific research center in Damascus, and near Homs, chemical weapons storage facilities and a command post.
The hour-long attack started at four in the morning, with more than 100 cruise missiles launched. Russia's defense ministry says Syrian air defense intercepted more than 70 missiles. Russia also says areas covered by its air defenses were not hit, adding the Western strikes claimed no victims.
