Korean Peninsula Diplomacy: South Korean pop singers, Taekwondo team visit Pyongyang
[]
South Korean pop singers and taekwondo athletes are visiting the DPRK to stage a series of performances.
Two concerts including one on this evening and many taekwondo performances are held through Tuesday. These are the first performances in Pyongyang by artists from the South in 13 years.
However, cultural exchanges were particularly frequent in 2007, the year the then-South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun walked across the demilitarized zone and signed a peace declaration with then-DPRK leader Kim Jong Il. Scarcely any official cultural exchanges have happened between both countries over the past decade.
