And at another press conference in Beijing on Thursday, China's Defense Ministry spoke out against US military involvement with Taiwan.  Tang Bo reports.
TANG BO BEIJING "When asked about the increasing US military interaction with Taiwan, the spokesperson for the defense ministry says China will exert its utmost effort and greatest sincerity in working for a peaceful reunification. Bu he stressed that China will take necessary measures to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity against external forces and Taiwan independence separatists."
WU QIAN, SPOKESPERSON MINISTRY OF NATIONAL DEFENSE "The One-China-Principle is a universal consensus of the international community. It is also the political foundation of China-US relations. Words or actions that break the principle would undermine the foundation of China-US relations. These are very dangerous moves that serve the interests of neither China nor the US."
TANG BO BEIJING "In response to some reports in Taiwan regarding US naval vessels passing through the Taiwan Strait as military support for Taiwan, the spokesperson stressed that reunification is a historical trend while Taiwan independence leads to a dead end."
WU QIAN, SPOKESPERSON MINISTRY OF NATIONAL DEFENSE "The one-China-principle is the political basis of the cross-strait relations. Taiwan's future lies within the unification of the nation. Those people and forces that instigate confrontation across the strait and blindly call for foreign support have little understanding of greater goods and will receive no support from the people."
