Officials in Israel have said they won't remove metal detectors from outside a major mosque in Jerusalem.
The installation has triggered what is being described as the bloodiest spate of violence with Palestinians in years.
However, officials said that the new security measures may be scaled back.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he is eyeing alternatives to the walk-through gates that were placed at entrances to al-Aqsa Mosque compound after two policemen were shot dead on July 14th.
Netanyahu said in a weekly cabinet meeting that the government is doing its best to manage the situation at the site.
