The Belt and Road Forum for Interconnected Land-Sea Development is underway in southwest China's Chongqing city. Tao Yuan has the details.
At a forum on the Belt and Road Initiative, one topic has dominated the discussions.
 "Trade war."
The forum is taking place in Chongqing, the gateway to China's southwest region. In 2011, a rail route opened between Chongqing and Duisburg, Germany, marking the start of the China-Europe freight service. Now, dozens of rail routes link Chinese cities to ones in Europe.
TAO YUAN "China's Belt and Road initiative is all about building connectivity. Many here attending the forum are worried that the US-China trade war is going to hurt that."
Some attending the forum see the trade war as part of the US's efforts to curb China's rise.
Already the impacts are being felt globally. The IMF says the trade tensions are one contributing factor to a significantly weakened global expansion. Participants at the forum say this highlights the need for discussions like this. TY, CGTN, Chongqing.
