Chinese Navy Celebration: Russian navy vessels arrive in Qingdao for int'l fleet review

Earlier, our reporter Zheng Yibing visited the Russian navy vessels at the port. Let's take a closer look. 
A salute to friends. A Russian fleet well represented for a prestigious occasion. It included three vessels, a modern frigate, a logistics support vessel and a tug ship. Among those looking on were the Russian ambassador and other senior officials from both countries.

The Russian contingent will now take a short rest after their long journey before final preparations begin for Tuesday's international naval fleet. Many believe Russia's participation is very important when it comes to regional security.
ZHANG JUNSHE VICE PRESIDENT, NAVAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE "This will increase the strategic mutual trust between Chinese and Russian militaries, and enhance our capabilities to encounter security threats together."
After next week's celebrations are over, both countries are expected to hold joint exercises off the coast of Qingdao.
ZHENG YIBING QINGDAO "The welcoming ceremony will see a handshake between the two navies. And experts say it will signify further cooperation, particularly in the area of sea drills. Zheng Yibing, CGTN, Qingdao, Shandong Province."
