10,000 times more terrifying: Chongqing skywalk rules China’s scary bridges

Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge in central China captured the world’s attention for its terrifying views and ambitious engineering. However, the world’s longest and highest glass bridge has been old news in adrenaline-filled walking experiences since a 200-meter skywalk in Chongqing, China, set a Guinness World Record as the world’s longest glass skywalk in May.

The new owner of the crown is in Chongqing’s Wansheng Ordovician Park. This A-shaped glass-bottomed platform juts out nearly 80 meters from a cliff, 300 meters above the ground. It’s three times longer than the Grand Canyon Skywalk in the United States.

Standing on the Chongqing skywalk, visitors can look straight down onto the unique karst landscape below them as they feel the bridge sway slightly in the wind. It’s a big draw for adventure enthusiasts.
“I felt my heart almost jump out of my chest when I stood on the glass,” said one brave challenger.

Another boasted that the Chongqing skywalk was 10,000 times more terrifying than the glass bridge in Zhangjiajie.
Besides the skywalk, Wansheng Ordovician Park also offers rope swings over the edge of a cliff for real adrenaline junkies.
