News Map 2017: A November to remember

As 2017 comes to an end, CGTN has put together a special 12-episode series called "News Map 2017" to review the monthly events of the past year. From December 18 to 29, review the most stirring events, relive the most touching stories and remember the most powerful faces of 2017.
Below are some of the most important headlines from November 2017.

November 4 

Lebanese PM Hariri 'resigns' in Saudi Arabia

Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri stunned his country on November 4 by announcing his resignation in Saudi Arabia. In a statement read out on Saudi television, he claimed that he feared his life was in danger. 
Lebanese President Michel Aoun accused Saudi Arabia of kidnapping Hariri and said he would not accept the resignation unless it was made in person in Beirut. 
French President Emmanuel Macron intervened and after two weeks in Riyadh, Hariri arrived in Paris. Hariri then returned to Lebanon for the country's Independence Day on November 22, and said he was suspending his resignation.

November 8

Trump visits China, discusses trade and DPRK issues

US President Donald Trump, accompanied by First Lady Melania Trump, arrived in Beijing on November 8 to begin his first state visit to China. He was the first head of state received by Chinese President Xi Jinping since the closing of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). 
The two leaders said they discussed issues of mutual concern and bilateral relations based on the consensus they reached during their previous meetings at Mar-a-Lago and in Hamburg. The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) nuclear issue and economic and trade issues were at the top of the agenda.

November 10

Chinese president attends APEC meeting, visits Vietnam and Laos

Xi attended the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting on November 10. He then paid state visits to Vietnam and Laos from November 12 to 14. 
It was his first overseas trip after the 19th CPC National Congress and he continued to promote his concept of "building a community with a shared future for mankind."
