Russian curler Alexander Krushelnitsky was found to have meldonium in his system after winning a bronze medal at the PyeongChang Olympics last week.
After a ban from the International Olympic Committee for alleged doping, Russian athletes were barred from competing at the PyeongChang Olympics. The only exception were athletes considered to be "clean."
Krushelnitsky's positive preliminary test has stunned people in PyeongChang as well as those in Russia.
“The reaction is feared in Russia,” said Russian reporter Dmitriy Zelenov, “because everybody is afraid of doping issues. We thought it’s the end of the story, but now we see it’s going on, it’s terrible, nobody expects of that.”
Alexander Krushelnitsky has yet to make a public statement.
