Russia on Wednesday warned that it is close to retaliating after a new sanctions bill was passed in the US House of Representatives.
Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said Moscow has repeatedly warned Washington that it would retaliate against what it calls hostile moves, adding it has grown tired of showing restraint.
A prominent Russian lawmaker said on Facebook that "further degradation of bilateral cooperation is becoming inevitable".
Tuesday's sanctions package which was passed in Congress is believed to target the Kremlin as well as the White House.
President Trump has not decided when or whether to sign the bill.
But experts believe he is unlikely to exercise his right to veto, considering sanctions on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are part of the same package.
