And we look back at yesterday's events, where Gao Tingyu was looking to become the first-ever Chinese male to medal in speed skating. Last year's Asian Games champion in the 500-meters was taking to the oval in the same event in PyeonChang.
Gao paired with Japan's Joji Kato. The Japanese in the outside line.The 20-year-old is soon even with his competitor and is in front, and he gets to the turn and makes a push for the final straight away.
Gao finishes in a time of 34.65 seconds. That is good enough to grab a bronze, the first Chinese male to medal in speed skating. Norway's Havard Lorentzen takes gold, setting an Olympic record of 34.41 second, breaking silver medalist South Korea's Cha Min-kyu's previous mark.
