The Chinese delegation is starting to return home following their participation at the PyeongChang Olympics. Among those back on home soil is the short track speed skating team, who were given an ovation as they touched down in Beijing on Monday.
The cross-country and figure skating teams also made their way back home, but the loudest cheers were for the Chinese short track speed skaters, including gold medalist Wu Dajing.
The 23-year-old won China's only gold at PyeongChang, claiming the title and setting two 500-meters world records. Despite wearing a black mask, he was still recognized by the fans.
Overall, China picked up nine medals: Wu's gold, plus six silvers and two bronzes. With the PyeongChang Games now over, the worldwide focus is on the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
"I think the gold medal is a reflection of the hard work of the entire team. We tried our best for a wonderful Winter Olympics,” said Wu Dajing.
