The media center for the China International Import Expo has opened today (Sunday). And that's where at least 4,000 reporters from around 70 countries and regions will gather. CGTN's Zou Yun gives us an express tour of the venue.
Opening its doors and welcoming journalists from around the world. The media center of China's first international import Expo begins its official operation on Sunday. The first thing that means is the hardware is ready. Over 400 workspaces with internet connections, charging stations, and audio access to press conferences. There is also high speed WiFi service available to cope with the burgeoning development of digital media.
XU WEI, DIRECTOR CIIE MEDIA CENTER "For those who work for digital media, they don't need to stay in the office. They can work everywhere like a café. All they need is the high speed wifi, so we will try our best to accommodate not only the traditional media, but also growing digital media."
ZOU YUN SHANGHAI "There are also new technologies embedded into the layout of the media center. For instance, this locker with a facial recognition system. I inserted my laptop a couple of hours ago, and now all I need to do is stand here, let it scan my face, and the door of the locker will open automatically."
But just the hardware is far from enough, what brings the experiences to a new level is the software and services. Over 300 volunteers are prepared to help journalists from both home and abroad by offering services including language assistance, direction guidance etc.
XIE YIYING, VOLUNTEER CIIE MEDIA CENTER "Our first priority is to offer a comfortable environment for journalists from home and abroad, such as consultant service and connecting with journalists. We also promote traditional culture, for everyone, especially for foreign journalists, such as free books and music during lunch time."
All these efforts are to ensure the best possible environment for journalists. ZY, CGTN, SHANGHAI.
