China's first school linked to the Belt and Road Initiative has opened its doors at Renmin University's Suzhou Campus. Let's take a look at the opening ceremony, which was held on Wednesday.

The inauguration of the Silk Road School at Renmin University of China was held on May 23rd. And the scenic premises look like just the place to inspire learning with greenery and birds and lakes and pavilions. The school is the first educational institution built under The Belt and Road Initiative. And it has grand goals, the Silk Road School will be home to global talents, deepening friendships and connections.

The key, during the process, is to cultivate talent and connections. Because you want them to be a part of it, to know about the Belt and Road, to know about China, and to know about relations and cooperation between China and other countries."

Students from countries along the Belt and Road route are encouraged to enroll at the school. They will be offered full scholarships, medical insurance and a living allowance to study Chinese politics, Chinese economics, as well as Chinese law and culture.

The Silk Road School has made its theoretical basis the Belt and Road studies. This is the first time that the policy has been made into an academic subject like this.

As the first substantial educational practice of the Belt and Road Initiative, the Silk Road School will keep exploring cooperation projects with other schools of Renmin University of China with an aim to reach a scale of 200 students within three years.
