37 killed after fire engulfs mall in the Philippines

A fire that broke out in a shopping mall on Saturday in the Philippine city of Davao killed 37 people, said local authorities.
The death toll was confirmed on Monday after local firefighters retrieved all 37 bodies, among which one was already recovered yesterday.

The 37 victims were claimed “missing” and had “zero chances of survival” after the fire broke out on Saturday morning, according to vice mayor of the city Paolo Duterte.
The blaze started at around 9:35 a.m. local time from the third floor of the NCCC Mall Department Store, the mall management said in a statement.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday visited Davao and met with the families of the trapped employees.
