As part of Asian Civilization Week, representatives from more than 20 Asian countries and regions are playing up their cultural and tourist attractions. CGTN's Sun Tianyuan shows us some exciting places to go to.
A tourism exhibition for the people, of the people, and by the people. Officials and agencies from some 20 Asian countries and regions come to present the very best part of their cultures and tourism. Sri Lanka's exhibit attracts a lot of attention.
CONG YIZHE, REPRESENTATIVE SRI LANKA TOURISM PROMOTION BUREAU "There are 8 world heritage sites in Sri Lanka. They are very, very famous and very interesting. Before that we find some rubies and very famous, it's great Ceylon tea. And also, we have two little trains. One is over Indian Ocean; one is in the mountains. So, during one week, people can from sea to the mountain, from cloud to heaven."
One Laotian tourism official proudly described their own UNESCO world heritage site.
SOUNH MANIVONG, DIRECTOR GENERAL LAOS TOURISM MARKETING DEPARTMENT "A very special part of Laos is Luang Prabang. Very famous. Luang Prabang was listed by Wanderlust magazine. It's already eight years about one of the top tourism destinations in the world."
2019, billed as the "Visit China-Laos Year", is when both countries hope to attract tourists from one another. Manivong hopes there will be more tourists coming from China, as well as other parts of the world. After all, tourism has a lot to do with economy.
