Syrian media report that the army is preparing "huge" operation to recapture Douma, the last rebel-held town in eastern Ghouta, unless the insurgent group Army of Islam agrees to hand the area over. Negotiations for an evacuation of the town have been underway, but a military commander said the militants were making excessive demands. A monitor based in Britain said the Syrian military had resumed artillery bombardment of Douma. Russia says 5,300 rebels and their families left the nearby enclave of Arbeen on Wednesday.
