A significant number of Chinese fashion designers have showcased their collections at this fall's London Fashion Week. Observers say this reflects China's growing INFLUENCE on the global fashion industry. CGTN's Kang Yubin reports from the catwalks of London.
A special show to demonstrate the unique collections from four Chinese brands has been presented at the London Fashion Week for the very first time.
Mukzin is one of them. Founded by Kate Han in 2014, this Hangzhou-based brand draws on traditional Chinese culture but playfully subverts it for a new generation.
KATE HAN FASHION DESIGNER, MUKZIN "Nowadays, I make my clothes for young people in China. I know many of them like my clothes. But I am not sure if the western audience can understand my designs, because I use a lot of Chinese characters, advertisements and culture references that only Chinese people would understand. But I think they love my colors and combinations. They know this is the oriental style presented in a modern way. They can tell the difference between my collection and traditional Chinese collections. So I think this works."
Similarly, other Chinese collections have been well received in London. Carrying the theme of "Beijing Youth", UOOYAA draws inspiration from a group of young Beijingers in the 1990s.

As a Chinese-born, London-based designer, Zhang Huishan has already left his footprint at the London Fashion Week. He tries to explore a futuristic narrative in his new collection, in collaboration with Chinese artist Vivien Zhang.
ZHANG HUISHAN DESIGNER, HUISHAN ZHANG "I think the London Fashion Week is a great platform. You know, I have studied here, and grown my brand here. It is a great bridge between China, the UK, and the West in general. It is one of the most prestigious fashion weeks on the map. So I think it is really great to be here as part of it."
The increasing number of Chinese designers at the London Fashion Week highlights the growing creative and business relationship between the fashion industries of China and the UK.
STEPHANIE PHAIR, CHAIRMAN BRITISH FASHION COUNCIL "I think it is an interesting proposition to have exchanges of talent-- Chinese designers coming to London, and also with efforts of BFC, showcasing the British designers in China. It is particularly exciting given the scale of how we can amplify support of London Fashion Week in China."
JUSTINE SIMONS, DEPUTY MAYOR CULTURE AND THE CREATIVE INDUSTRIES "It is important for London to trade globally. And of course China is a really important market for London and for UK as a whole. We can see, incredible designers coming through China and London. And I think the exchange is really important. We want to see this market opens up to each other. We welcome lots of Chinese fashion students into our colleges. We see lots of Chinese designers coming to our catwalks. I think we want that trade to be two way, you know, we want to have a great productive exchange with China, it is so important."
