Ahead of Apple’s official launch of the new iPhone 8, 9to5Mac, an Apple news website, has confirmed new features including animated 3D emojis.
The set of animated emojis, named "Animoji", is designed for iPhone’s built-in messaging service iMessage, and is more than just moving characters.
Using facial tracking technology, each animoji will be able to mimic facial expressions and pick up your voice in real time.

Augmented reality (AR) cameras used by Snapchat and Facebook rely on matching points of a cover-up mask to human faces, while Animoji relies on facial recognition software and 3D sensors to conduct the expressions. The technology appears to be the fruit of Apple's acquisition of motion capture firm Faceshift in 2015.
