Rohingya Repatriation: Details of Myanmar-Bangladesh repatriation deal
[]
Myanmar and Bangladesh signed a repatriation deal last November. They were looking to start returning Rohingya refugees to Myanmar in January and complete the process within 24 months. Both sides agreed to set up special transit camps on their respective sides of the border, with returnee movements limited to these temporary facilities. The deal stipulated that all returnees needed to be willing to be repatriated, and they also had to show an official proof of residence to Myanmar authorities. However, only those who fled to Bangladesh AFTER October 2016 are included in the deal.
