Four people are dead after a boat carrying 40 school children capsized two nautical miles from the shore in Dahanu, Maharashtra state, on Saturday, according to ANI News Agency.
Thirty-two students have been rescued as the search operation continues with the Coast Guard personnel and helicopters dispatched to the area.
The boat overturn happened at around 11:00 a.m. local time, according to ANI.
The cause of the incident is not immediately clear, but local media has quoted an official saying that overloading might have contributed to the accident.
