The Rolling Stones once belted out "I Can't Get No Satisfaction". But it was nothing but that for their fans, as they PERFORMED in their home country at the London Stadium. Their new tour will have them perform new material AND classic hits like 'Street Fighting Man' and 'Sympathy for the Devil', and it looks like not even wild horses could drag these septua'genarians away.
After more than 50 years of rock 'n' roll, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts showed they have lost none of their energy for big arena performances. Some in attendance had followed the rockers since their beginnings in the 1960s, and others had travelled from afar to watch the band.
"The age, you can keep, we have the privilege of keeping watching live the same rock n' roll band and it's the same for the last 30 years. Something not many can say! For example, just find a Beatles fan or The Who you will see only 50 or 25% of the band. We keep on rocking."
Reactions after the gig were largely positive.
"The Stones were the only band I'd not seen. I'd seen The Who, Kinks and all the old bands. They smashed it tonight. They were good."
"It was amazing. We saw them in '82 in Roundhay Park in Leeds and it's the first time we've seen them since and it was amazing. Fantastic, they done all the old stuff, they did some new stuff and it was brilliant."
The show was part of the 'No Filter' European Tour which began in Germany in September 2017 and is due to run until July 8 this year with a show in Warsaw, Poland. LQ, CGTN.
