The Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme, David Beasley, has concluded an official visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea from May 8-11. During his stay in Beijing, CGTN's Hou Na sat down with him to talk about his experiences in the DPRK and cooperation with China.
1. The World Food Programme has been working in the DPRK for more than two decades, helping to strengthen food security in the country and improve nutrition for women and children. You have visited schools and nurseries there. Describe the situation there for us.
2. You've talked to many mothers and children in the DPRK. Where should funds be directed to be most effective? Now the north and south are working towards peace, what is the atmosphere like there?
3. You've met officials from China's Ministry of Agriculture here in Beijing. What are the prospects for cooperation? How do you evaluate poverty reduction efforts in China, and what do you think are the major challenges here?
