South African Breweries has invested 215 million US dollars in expansions and two new packaging lines for returnable glass bottles at its Alrode and Rosslyn operations in the country's Gauteng province. The SAB investment is over and above 77 million US dollars that it plans to invest in the country over the next five years.
The capacity improvement for the global brewer will allow it to meet future demands. Current capacity is eight million hectolitres and it will increase to ten million hectolitres.
CGTN’s Angelo Coppola reported that the group's investment affects the entire value chain, and starts on the agri-processing side. It’s a significant investment in anybody’s books and a sign of confidence in South Africa’s economy and SAB opportunities.
