The UN Security Council has held an emergency meeting to discuss the suspected chemical attack in Syria.
The alleged attack happened on Saturday in the rebel-held town of Douma. At least 49 people were killed and hundreds more were injured. Both Syria and Russia have denied accusations of being behind the attack. The US is urging the council to adopt a new resolution that would condemn the continued use of chemical weapons in Syria. They also intend to establish a new body to determine responsibility for chemical attacks.
However, Russia said it contained "some unacceptable elements". Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also said the US and its allies, are using provocations in order to maintain their presence in Syria.
