MENG QINGSHENG BEIJING China's Foreign Ministry is calling on the United States to respect China's economic interests and address the ongoing trade frictions via dialogue and negotiation. Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said it's impossible for the two countries to enjoy perfectly balanced trade.
She said China is America's biggest export market for soybeans and planes, and the second biggest market for automobiles and cotton. And the products China has exported to the United States are those the US cannot produce, or produce as efficiently.
Hua also refuted media reports on the alleged economic invasion by China. She said China will take active measures to confront challenges from trade investigations launched by the US, and firmly defend its manufacturers' interests.
The Trump administration is expected to unveil tariffs on up to 60 billion US dollars of Chinese technology and telecom products by Friday. The tariffs will be imposed under Section 301 of the US Trade Act of 1974, after it started an intellectual property probe in August last year.
Last week, the US Chamber of Commerce showed strong opposition to Trump's reported plan to impose tariffs on China, as it will affect the livelihoods of the US consumers, businesses, farmers and ranchers. Meng Qingsheng, CGTN, Beijing.
