Finnish police accused the arrested suspect Abderrahman Mechkah of his potential radicalism.
Today, the 18-year-old suspect will appear before the Turku court via video link from hospital. Through the investigation, Mechkah was previously identified as an asylum seeker from Morocco who arrived in Finland in early 2016.
But the court documents did not mention his nationality. The attack in Turku city caused two killed and eight wounded. Finnish Security Intelligence Service (SUPO) said they received “an increased risk of an attack committed” by ISIL militants, but did not “gain significant positions”. Four other Moroccan suspects have also been arrested, but none of them have been acknowledged as guilty.
