Two gunmen responsible for an attack on an Afghan intelligence facility in the capital city of Kabul were killed by the police on Monday afternoon, an official said.
"The attack has ended. Two attackers were killed... only two police were wounded," said Kabul police spokesperson Basir Mujahid, adding there were no civilian casualties.
An explosion and ensuing gunfight rocked a western neighborhood in the Afghan capital on Monday morning, witnesses and sources said.
"Gunmen seized a building after detonating explosives in the Afshar locality at around 10:30 a.m. local time (0600 GMT). Casualties were feared as the attackers fired on the nearby intelligence training center with guns and grenade launchers," an eyewitness said.
The Islamic State (ISIL) had claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement on its Amaq news agency, saying two of its fighters had attacked an intelligence agency center in Kabul.
